"Dare to be a woman in a male-dominated world!"

A lot of women, all over the world, excel in technical roles. Think of engineers, software developers, technicians, mechanics… A day like International Women’s Day creates the ideal opportunity to give them a well-deserved place in the spotlight. At Innoptus, 29% of our league of legends are women and we are quite proud of that. Els, Yuqian, Cathy, and Anique share how they experience their technical job.

Els: software developer

As a software developer for Innoptus, Els mainly creates custom software. “I mainly help customers with ‘Windchill’ customizations. Windchill is our PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Solution. Creating value for the customer in the foreseen frameworks of the software is really challenging and satisfying.

A typical question of our customers is creating interfaces with ERP, PIM, CPQ,…. The goal is to simplify people's lives, and the fact that this is different for every customer or project, makes it challenging.”

“The tech sector never stands still. Just when you’ve finally caught up with one thing, there’s already another change or innovation happening somewhere else. It remains a challenge, and that’s good. It can’t get boring. There are so many new technologies and so many great things you can do with software.”

What message would you like to share with your future (women) colleagues?

“Welcome to Innoptus! There is always room for good technical people. What is more satisfying than going home and see the high tech products of your different customers in daily life? You absolutely can make it in the tech sector as a woman.”

Yuqian: application engineer

Yuqian has a strong interest in all things engineering. Her job at Infinite Simulation Systems mainly involves problem-solving thinking and providing mechanical training to customers. “My master’s degree and PhD research experience give me confidence in my job and there is room to develop new skills. It is a sector where there are a lot of opportunities.”

“I am convinced that there is more than enough room to welcome many more women into this sector. It creates diversity in the team, which in turn provides innovative perspectives from several backgrounds.”

What message would you like to share with your future (women) colleagues?

“Just be yourself and don’t be put off by the many men in this industry.”

Cathy: support engineer

Anyone with a question about their Ansys solution comes to Cathy.  She assists our customers with the necessary advice and provides answers to every possible question. Meanwhile, she has accumulated 20 years of experience in these and similar sectors.

“Based on my experience, I’ve noticed that there are now many more women with technical positions than there were 20 years ago. Back then, it was completely different and mainly men worked in our sector. The numbers are rising and that is nice to see, but whether I work with men or women, it makes little difference to me.”

What message would you like to share with your future (women) colleagues?

I would give the same message to both male and female colleagues: the atmosphere here is top-notch! There is no competition between men and women; everyone is equal and shares their knowledge with each other. I would encourage anyone to come and work for Infinite Simulation Systems, man or woman, everyone is welcome here.”

Anique: HR director

"What are your talents and where do you derive the most energy from?" HR Director Anique guides and supports the career process of 4ITEGO employees. "But I prefer to highlight the softer aspects that are part of a job or role, and focus on connection, communication & talent... As a woman, it is just amazing to add these very important topics."

"My passion for people has always been there: I want to understand what they do, how they do it, and where they derive the most energy from.”

What message would you like to share with your future (women) colleagues?

"To all women who hesitate to enter the technical sector: come, it's fun, challenging and  we’re having a great time! Innoptus & Infinite Simulation Systems are very female-friendly companies. This is now the case in many technical companies. Dare to be a woman in a male environment. More diversity only makes our company stronger."
